Valuation For Divorce Settlement & Litigation

We frequently act as Expert Witness and supply valuation reports of art, antiques and jewellery for divorce settlement and litigation purposes. We work closely with solicitors in the preparation of divorce reports which comply with Part 25 of the Family Procedure Rules 2010.

Our objective is to assist lawyers and their clients with the complex and sensitive process of valuing jointly owned possessions.

We have considerable experience in providing expert valuation reports, often acting as Single Joint Expert (SJE).

Our divorce and Family Law litigation team provide:

  • Expert Witnesses on a Party or Single Joint Expert basis
  • Detailed valuation reports with clear descriptions and thumbnail images
  • RICS accredited valuation reports
  • General advice on art, antiques and jewellery and the art market

Since the landmark case of White v. White (2000) the equitable division of assets is an important consideration in divorce settlement cases. A professional RICS accredited valuation document is essential to ensure the value of items is listed accurately to aid fair distribution.

As established in K v. K (2003) the division of personal possessions must be accomplished with a clear schedule denoting the destination of items. The general practice in the Family Division should be that only joint valuations are acceptable.

Fees for divorce valuations are highly competitive and can often be agreed in advance of any work being carried out.
